Intuitive Eating

Intuitive Eating is the radical idea that you can trust yourself to make decisions around what, how and when to eat.

Trust myself?

Wait, what?

You’ve probably spent years actively learning to not trust yourself through disordered eating, dieting, weight-management plans or 12-step programs for food.

You may worry that without an eating plan, you will go off the rails with food.

These fears are normal. Re-learning to trust your body’s wisdom is a process that takes patience, self-compassion and a huge leap of faith.

It’s re-learning because you already know how to do this.

You came into the world knowing exactly how to feed yourself and then a world that fears fat, moralizes food and appetites stepped in and messed it up.

Health at Every Size ®

HAES is a social justice movement that honors the fact that bodies come in all shapes and sizes and that denying this reality creates harm. It makes people on the higher end of the weight spectrum trapped in diet hell and makes everyone else terrified of gaining weight.

Health at Every Size recognizes that weight bias is the toxic breeding ground for all forms of disordered eating and that sustainable healing must critically examine myths and misinformation surrounding food and weight.


The road to peace and freedom with food and your body can be rocky at times. You will need skills to help you along the way. This is where DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and RO-DBT (Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills come in.*

DBT Skills

For some people, food and body image struggles intersect with being highly sensitive. If you’re highly sensitive, you may also be more reactive and impulsive when you’re upset. This can create behaviors around food that give you immediate relief when you feel bad but make you feel worse in the long run.

It's ok to soothe yourself with food when you're feeling down. Food and emotions are deeply connected. Problems arise when food is the only way you take care of yourself when you're going through a rough patch. DBT skills can help you fill out your tool box so you have lots of ways to soothe yourself and ride the waves of intense emotion with grace and dignity.

RO-DBT Skills

For other people, food and body struggles intersect with a strong desire to be in control. If being in control makes you feel safe, you may get uncomfortable without a clear plan of how to eat. You may also have a hard time showing your real self in relationships.

RO-DBT skills teach you practical ways to let go, embrace imperfection and authentically connect to others.
